June: Summer Solstice
This year the summer solstice takes place at 12:38 pm on June 21. To celebrate, go forth into the shortest night of the year and watch the fireflies’ light show, dance in the moonlight or lie back in the grass and watch the stars.
Summer Stars
By Carl Sandburg
Bend low again, night of summer stars.
So near you are, sky of summer stars,
So near, a long-arm man can pick off stars,
Pick off what he wants in the sky bowl,
So near you are, summer stars,
So near, strumming, strumming,
So lazy and hum-strumming.
